You probably know that you can buy clothing and accessories on Poshmark, but did you know you could buy makeup, too? I was skeptical when I first came across this. Is it safe to buy makeup on Poshmark? I had to know. So, I placed several orders, with several different sellers, and I’ve had a chance to test things out. Despite my reservations, I have lots of good things to say!
What is Poshmark?
Don’t know what Poshmark is? Poshmark is a selling and shopping platform that focuses on specific categories: Women (Clothes, Accessories, Skincare/Bath/Body/Hair, Makeup, Jewelry), Men (Clothes, Accessories, Grooming), Kids (Clothes, Accessories, Toys, Bath/Body/Hair), Pets, Electronics, Home (Decor, Supplies, Games, Linens, Organization). Shipping is a flat 7.97 and sellers can opt to eat into their earnings to offer cheaper or free shipping. Buyers can shop individual seller’s “closets” and bundle their purchase under the one shipping fee. Buying from multiple sellers results in shipping charges for each one.

Possibly.
Everything I bought came in it’s original packaging with seals in place. In my search for specific products, I came across many used products. Poshmark itself does not allow the sale of used or swatched makeup. That doesn’t stop people from trying though. I’m sure many people appreciate the deal. I can appreciate reducing waste. But I don’t think anyone should buy used or swatched makeup unless it’s from someone they trust.

How did it go?
So far, great! Like I said, I’ve had next to no problems with the buying, shipping, receiving process. Shopping on Poshmark is like a fun mash up between Pinterest and eBay. Even when I’m not actively looking for something, I find myself scrolling and “liking” to pass time.
I’ve had a chance now to test about half of the products. They’re on my face right now. My face is sensitive and dry and I don’t have any itching, dryness, nor tightness. Nothing has gone patchy nor broken down. My face texture and fine lines look about the same as they usually do. Ultimately, I can recommend these products.
Is it safe to buy makeup on Poshmark?
I can’t say with certainty that every makeup product sold on the platform is safe. What I can say with certainty is Poshmark’s protections for buyers and sellers is great. Furthermore, I can say with certainty that the clothing, shoes, and accessories are pretty safe to buy. I recommend sticking to listings with photos of the actual item with detailed descriptions.
