They were 1 and 1/2 inch long screws. I no longer have the box and this was a while ago so I don’t have any other information on them- sorry!

    Hi! Wonderful DIY.
    Can you share
    1. What size screws you used to drill the slats into the headboard and how many?
    2. How many pieces of lumber did you buy? It looks like you cut the original pieces in half lengthwise?
    Thanks!

The number of slats you see are the number of pieces I bought. There was about 7 inches that I had to cut off of each piece. The screws I used are 1 and 1/2 inch long but this was a while ago and I no longer have the box so I don’t have any other details on them- sorry!

Thanks, I just made this and it looks amazing – very mid century and looks better quality than I thought it would. I did it with a double bed, so I cut the wood slats to 58″ and used 10 of them. I secured the top slat first and used a small book to space the slats, glued them, and then screwed them in from behind. I had to use 2″ screws (1.5″ were too short).
